Dairy Visit

my friend gwyn and i took our little ones to the cozy cow dairy yesterday.
it's a free dairy just a smidge southeast of here.



there were animals to pet.



and goats that eat coats.



milking of cows.

we've never had a bloody nose in our family yet, and last week...three.



the highlight was mud puddle jumping and sand pile climbing.

sweet little elly.
the girl has 2 older brothers.
she's gonna be a tomboy.
it works out great for finn.



after a chilly morning playing and getting down and dirty, we headed in for fresh homemade cinnamon rolls.



and more farm play.

The River

during our staff conference, jon's parents came in town to keep the kids.
we were super duper busy, but we still managed to get away together a couple of times.
one afternoon we popped up to the poudre river to play and relax.





the water was ice.



jon challenged jack to a head dunk competition.



arrrre yyooouuu rreeeaaddyy?!?!



jon was in and out, but jack...



kept going...



and going!








some kayakers pulled right up.





and rowan ate plenty of dirt as usual.

Breakfast Bike

one of the fun family things we did last week was bike a different direction.
we headed north on the poudre trail.
after about 5 miles we headed into old town to a favorite breakfast spot - the silver grill cafe.
known for their cinnamon rolls.



i love the back patio. 
it looks so quaint and european.
i can't believe we just pulled up, walked in and landed a spot outback without a wait.



no one ever complains about cinnamon rolls.







proof we were biking...early morning beadhead followed by helmets. 
yellow! (that's how finn puts it)



we had nothing but time so we scooted down the street to the "jumping fountains" as we call them.
they're technically an art installation outside of the art museum but the kids all adore playing in them.
do you see the 3 colors of inlaid glass in the concrete? it's so sparkly.

Boulder

so, you may have noticed that the blog hasn't been updated in, oh, about a month.
there are reasons. 
they will hit the blog soon.
because i feel almost at a loss for where to begin, let's just start with today.

today started with a 5 mile bike along the spring creek bike trail that ends up at the best splash park in town.
it's the most beautiful trail. 
under weeping willows, past rivers and horse farms. 
gorgeous.

i "needed" to go to boulder "today" because they had a killer deal on a fireplace screen we "needed" and that was the only store that had one in stock nearby. 
jon complied with my madness.  whoopie!

we loaded up the troops, made the purchase, and hit pearl street. 
it was hot (i mean, for colorado) and busy with street performers. 
jack was fascinated by a unicycling fire juggler so we stayed for the whole show.
thankfully, all the crude language flew straight over the boys heads.

ok, the guy was really funny.



jack loved him.



we cooled off with starbucks blended strawberry lemonades. 
have you ever had one??
they're not on the menu, and they're delish!



this is the place the boys wanted to play at. 
it was a city, and they were giants.

he starts first grade in 10 days.







finn's been calling me "sweet love" and "angel baby" lately.
we're a nickname kind of family.



does anyone remember when jack called me "honey" exclusively for years?





jack asked to go to the top of the parking garage. 
he actually asks this all the time. 
so we drove on up 6 flights only to realize he'd really like to ride the elevator up.



we told 'em to hop out and take a ride. 
they were in heaven.
next time your little guy or gal asks for something silly....why not say YES!
