Round It Up

a little 5 year old of mine had "kindergarten round-up" yesterday!
he's such a cute, long-legged little thang.
it was a special preview day for the kinders to come, meet their teacher and see their classroom.
and in true "liberty" form, we were given assignments to do and book for us to have read to them by the time school gets here.

winnie the pooh

have you ever read that?  the original loooooong story?
slightly painful.

he was so excited to go, and to have something special all his own.
finn is really going to be a great kindergartener.

apparently it was really bright.  i probably should have kept the sunglasses on.

super hero pose!

all i asked for was a sweet little smile.

QUIP O'THE DAY
i have always had "interesting" handwriting.  it looks terrible when i write with an inky kind of pen.  my grandmother rowan always said she was going to have it analyzed...

Free Wheelin'

bikes are a big deal around here.  clearly, we live in a seriously bike friendly community.  jack is finally at an age where he can ride by himself, and we're finally willing to let him.  problem is, he's been trying to ride on a little green bike he got when he turned 5.  his knees are in his ears and the pedaling is slow going.  finn, set to inherit said green bike, has recently become quite determined to learn to cruise sans training wheels.

jack has since scored a sweet new ride, and finn is still mastering the art of riding.  if he even remotely thinks it's not working out, he jumps ship and hops off the bike.  randomly.  and without warning.  for now, he's on the tagalong or in the bike trailer behind a professional rider.

it's back breaking work for sure, learning to ride.

Photobucket

fierce competition can be motivating.

Photobucket

this little homey can do anything.  ride a two-wheeled scooter?  yup.  and with style.

and one time they slept in the tent out back.

Board Games

Photobucket

what finn likes to do is play board games.

Photobucket

when jack's at school and rowan naps, he turns to me and says, "play game?"

Photobucket

hi-ho cherry-o, guess who?, candy land, robot matching, dominos, charlie and lola go fish, puzzles...the boys a master gamer and he's good.

Photobucket

is it my preference? no, but it's his. so i'll play instead of dishes and laundry and cleaning and showering...

Photobucket

because finn is special and time alone with him is rare and fleeting.

Photobucket

and he's stinkin' adorable quite frankly.

Finn's 3!

Photobucket

Photobucket

on the 5th of january, we celebrated finn!

Photobucket

i can not believe he's 3, you'd think he was 4 (major talker & off the growth charts tall).

Photobucket

it was so fun to celebrate this sweet middle child.

Photobucket

blue kool-aid was the big hit.

Photobucket

and i thought we'd run out of chocolate milk.

Photobucket

"F" cookie favors. finn was in l-o-v-e with these.

Photobucket

kettle corn is a favorite around here.

Photobucket

simple cardstock flags on toothpicks and triple lined cupcakes sure are cute.

Photobucket

finn - sweet, loving, humble, happy-go-lucky. i can't begin to tell you how much this kid has my heart.

Photobucket

sweet treats and pizza.

it was so fun to plan for finn and celebrate him and his first three years. i loved praying for him, and watching him get shy when everyone sang to him.
