french toast....it's always been a mystery to me. we frequently do pancakes and waffles, and mostly for dinner, but never french toast. despite it's long standing role as my favorite thing to order out for breakfast, i've never mastered it at home. that is, until now! the secret?
the right bread. folks, you are looking at great harvest bread company's cinnamon swirl bread. heaven in one pretty lil round loaf.
do you soak it? add milk to the eggs? sprinkle in cinnamon? all of these questions haunted me prior to this bread. it's dense and flavorful so it just takes a quick dip in whisked eggs. so simple even meaghan could do it (ahahahaha).
give it a flip on the skillet and you have...

well, dinner! there were eggs for protein so i can call that dinner right? it is seriously the best french toast ever. sorry bout the bread. hope you can find some comparable!

I have to correct you on something, Meaghan, being a former employee and all. You have actually purchased the cinnamon burst bread. It is white bread with cinn. chips. There is a cinn. burst swirl bread that is white bread, plus cinn. chips, plus a swirl of ooey, gooey brown sugar and cinn. in the middle. It is an oblong loaf. Our family always gets the cinn. burst swirl and I dip it in a little milk and egg. We sometimes get the whole wheat version (sold only on a specific day) and it is just about as good as the white version but "healthier". : ) Whether you get the burst or the swirl, it does make excellent french toast for those who are only so lucky to have a Great Harvest Bread Company in their vicinity.
