i had so much fun baking and trying new recipes on christmas eve and christmas day. it was nice to have the time. do you like baking or does it stress you out? i could spend hours in the kitchen.
one of the things i made for the first time were these mozerella cheese sticks wrapped in wontons and fried. i wonder if there's a way to bake them instead of fry them? hmmmm. probably with bread crumbs instead of wonton wrappers. maybe i'll try it sometime. i've always wondered about using wonton wrappers though. they aren't as delicate as i thought they'd be.
step 1: lay out a single wrapper
step 2: place a mozerella cheese stick in the middle
step 3: fold a corner over the top
step 4: lightly brush water on a corner and fold it over the cheese
step 5: repeat on the other side
step 6: roll up the cheese the rest of the way and brush water on the top corner
step 7: press the corner down to seal the whole thing up
place about an inch of oil in a saucepan and heat on medium heat to 375 degrees or so. i just recently picked up this candy/oil thermometer at walmart for just over $3. handy for the homemade marshmallows too.
this didn't take very long.
place the cheese sticks in the oil in small batches for about 30 seconds a side. remove them to a paper towel to drain a bit.
and there you go! i microwaved them for about 20-30 seconds too just to make the cheese extra melty.
you can dip them in marinara or ranch and enjoy!
