Garden's In

our garden has finally landed.  after killing off two attempts at starting seeds indoors, let's hope that the ones started in the ground do a bit better.  and the little plants i bought.  if nothing else, at least the plants were half off.

the vegetable garden is definitely in our front yard.  it was really the best spot - sprinklers and full sun.

 

here's what's in there starting from the back:
3 heirloom tomato varieties - cherokee purple, caspian pink and yellow pear.
red and yellow sweet peppers
"gypsy" peppers - the plant produces a variety of colors
eggplant
yellow summer squash
then the bean teepee for the boys that i think will house a fairy garden
zucchini (all planted way too close together - oops)
cantelope
purple bush beans
herb garden

   

when we were buying plants, finn saw the yellow marigolds and asked if we could get some. at 98 cents each, i said yes.  he planted them around the teepee and named them "finn, rowan and jack" respectively.

  

the herb garden is comprised of basil (3 plants, i really love basil), cilantro, rosemary, parsley, and a couple of "hens and chicks."

if they die of anything, it might be over watering.

the large brown pot is home to "rainbow" carrots - purple, orange and yellow ones
the wide pot has shorter sweet carrots in it, and the little pots hold mint and lemon verbena


 
 

 

i filled up the front of the wall with fragrant lavender and some yellow daisies.  the lavender smells heavenly, and will be wonderful to use dried.

all that mulch is courtesy of the city of fort collins.  after christmas the town has tree recycling drop off locations where they take your christmas tree off your hands for free.  in the spring, they turn all those trees into mulch and let you take as much as you want for free.  we took three pick up trucks full.  thank you fort collins.
