An Evening in the Park

we have a really great small group from our church.  we love all of the five couples in our group.  the kids are all friends and have shared alot of time together as we parents have fellowshipped and studied God's Word together over the last three years.  our group has gone through a lot of changes, originally being 13 couples (!).  i don't remember how many kids that was, but it was alooooooot.  now there are 14 with more on the way i'm sure :)

we've been going through tim keller's newish book on marriage this semester "the meaning of marriage." like a tim keller book would be, it's awesome, and we're only two chapters in.  i know that God is going to do some transforming work in all of our marriages through our study together and openness with one another.

last night, every one dropped their little tykes off at our house with a couple of dearly loved babysitters for a night alone together.  jon and i were hoping to recreate the "picnic date night" we had at family camp this summer.  jon encouraged the men to pack a picnic dinner for their wives, and we all headed over to the huge park around the corner from our house.  we armed each couple with a teenie bottle of sparkling cider, two plastic champagne glasses and a handful of discussion questions.

we all met up under a pavillion at the end to share about our night.  everyone had a lot of fun, including us.  feel free to take the questions we answered along on your next date night!  they're listed below, and great fuel for deeper conversation.



real men wear pink plaid shirts and bike without hands with a monogrammed picnic tote strapped across them.  it's true.

aren't my boots cuter than cute?! jon surprised me and brought them home to me one day after i'd mentioned i'd seen them and liked them.
