Swiss Miss & Ramblings

oh my.  i'm seriously tired today.  jon was gone for a few days this week, and i sleep terribly while he's away.  when i lived in dallas, my bike was stolen off of my second story balcony while i slept on the couch (long story).  i heard them taking if outside the balcony door just feet away from the couch where i was, but in my sleep i never fully woke up.  it's amazing how it has still affected me.  even years later.  thinking that if if don't fully wake up, i could miss something again.

it snowed yesterday and last night.  we woke up to tall fresh white for the second day in a row.  it won't last.  it'll be in the 60's again within the week.

first thing after i woke up, i spent the 20 minutes it takes to tuck pajama sleeves and pants into snow ones, fight little fingers into stiff gloves and make sure ears and chins were warm only to have every child crying and begging to come back inside after maybe maybe 10 minutes.  ask me how i felt about that.  jon and i considered (seriously) locking them out, which i do in the summer (and close the curtains so they can't whine at the door) (yes, i am completely serious) (really), but, considering the cold, we didn't follow through.  i mean, it was only a colorado 30 degrees.  they would've been fine.

every year when the summer warmth begins to space itself out and the days get ever so slightly shorter, i feel a literal stress/panic at the mere thought of winter.  i really don't like it.  i don't want to wear thick socks or two pairs of pants or have a red nose.  i don't like when snow gets under my gloves and around my wrists.  it's dark and cold and hard to wake up in the morning.  blah.  i could go on, but i'll spare you.  i think i just need a new plan of attack.  a coping mechanism.  hmmm...i'll put it on the agenda and let you know.

i just remembered that i was going to tell you how i was so well versed about pestos and pistous.  that'll be a good blog.  any other ideas?

despite the fact that gwyn and i had tickets we, like thousands of others, were turned away from romney/ryan's rally at red rocks.  that's a lot of R's.  i was so disappointed.  i teared up as i watched the recap online the next morning.  so close....

another soccer season has come to a close.

jon is seriously the best U5 coach.  he has so much patience, and loves on the kids so well.  one time he was giving some strategy to jillian during a game, and she just looked at him and blew him an air kiss as her only response.  sigh.  adorable.

it's rare to find this good stuff around the house.  we're normally generic french roast people.  not because we think it's awesome, but it is awesome that you can get the huge container for like $8.99.  we drink enough coffee to warrant the generic, but this has been fun this week.

sorry it has been a long week. i am not a fan of sleeping alone either. when my jon is out of town, i usually stay up way too late, putting off climbing into an empty bed:( so during this ohio trip, i watched too much grey's anatomy and drank too much coffee the next mornings:) big hugs.

I don't sleep well either when Chris is gone. It makes his work trips take forever. Love the pipecleaner man!
