8th Birthday Cake

jack turned 8 yesterday.
such a cute st. patty's day boy.

his birthday was a jam-packed day of fun.  starting with a big ole pile of cinnamon rolls.

i'll fill in the details tomorrow, but for now here's jack's birthday "cake-in-a-jar"

Cake in Mason Jars
makes 8-10 12 oz jars

2 white cake mixes (betty crocker super moist)
2 containers of frosting

mix both boxes according to package directions.
spoon equal amounts of cake batter into separate bowls
use gel food coloring to color cake batter
alternate spoonfuls of different color cake batter into the mason jars

*only fill the jars 1/2 full*

place jars on a cookie sheet and bake
bake at 350 25minutes or until a knife inserted in the cake comes out clean

i scooped my canned frosting into a ziplock bag, snipped off the corner and swirled some on top

as you can tell, the white mix "browned" i probably won't use white again

QUIP O' THE DAY
every morning i have two cups of coffee.
