for the last 2 years we've really wanted to make advent a part of our christmas. but every year, december hits, and i haven't even thought about it! this year though i was proactive! i bought the advent candles weeks ago (you can get them at hobby lobby), and then i ordered this book off of amazon:

it was $3.99 and $0.01 shipping (random). on each sunday (starting last sunday) leading up to christmas, you light a candle, then there's a devo, a couple of songs, and a scripture reading. then each day that week, there's a scripture reading and you light the candle on the wreath.

so far, we've been doing our daily advent celebration as a family after dinner. jack runs around and turns out all the lights. at the end the boys take turns getting to blow out the candle. it's been really fun teaching the boys christmas carols and working to keep the true meaning of christmas at the center of our holiday season!

super cute...
my mother in law just gave me this book yesterday... we are doing our advent a little different, but i'm using the scripture from the book!
We also do an advent wreath every Christmas. It has evolved over the years...Matthew started off being the candle snuffer but he has now moved up to candle lighter and Daniel is the official candle snuffer! The boys will hopefully learn a lot as the years go buy...or learn a lot about fire! :-)
We used to use that book when I was a kid and loved it!!
