soooo...it's a long story. i mean, not really, but for a blog where i don't usually write much it is.
so, foco is pretty much awesome, and any school in the town that you want your kid to go to you can put them on a "lottery list" not a wait list, a lottery. there are a few schools that are straight "school of choice" meaning, the only kids that go there are there because their parents love the school and they were drawn by lottery.
originally, jack was going to traut elementary. a really great foco "school of choice." we were perfectly happy and excited about him going there. and his best bud jacob was going to be in his afternoon kinder class. MAIN drawback, it took 30 minutes to get there for him to be there for 3 hours during the other boys nap times. every. day.
enter: liberty common school. so, 2 days into traut, i got a call from liberty (a kid moved as the school year started and there was an opening). THE school we wanted jack to go to. the main difference from traut (besides half as far away) is it's a charter (they aren't a part of the school district and have much more freedom as a school).
it took a little to decide to make the switch, but we're SO stoked to have jack at liberty! it's tues/ thurs all day and friday afternoon. there's a family from our church with a daughter in jack's class so we're carpooling (bonus!).
finn wanted to wear a uniform too to pick jack up from his first day of school. it's actually a "dress code." in KINDERGARTEN jack learns latin, economics, geography. it's a core knowledge school. ever heard of it? you should learn about it. it's how our kids should be learning.
how adorable is mrs. shockley? i love her already. we pick jack up at the second lamp post. heehee.

we went for ice cream as a family after school his first friday. i'm so excited to have our little guy learning. and excited about learning.

After hearing about Liberty, then seeing all of the curriculum maps, books and fun stuff to come (while we were there), I AM THRILLED about this for Jack Yippee! Now, how to get Sadie into Liberty now, and devise a plan of transport...? ;)
So never would I have thought that my 5 year old nephew would be learning Latin?!? Crazy. I wanna hear more!
